Backmatter includes an addition mini biography of each of the fourteen children activists chosen and the poetic forms used. It is a collection of fourteen poems – one for each candidate with a laudatory paragraph and a probing question left for the young reader. The text is rather simplistic, straightforward, informative, and poetic. It is a collection of tributes written in prose and poetry to children and teens of today who have spoken out to support a cause or protest injustice.
